Rental terms
Plain, clear terms. The rental agreement you sign at handover prevails on every detail.
1. Who we are
Road Runner (Folegandros Moto · Road Runner) is a family-run scooter and ATV rental based in Chora, Folegandros, operating since 1998. Every rental is governed by these terms and by the rental agreement signed when the vehicle is handed over. If the two differ, the signed agreement prevails.
2. Licence and drivers
- ATVs (quads) require a valid category B car licence.
- 125–200 cc scooters require a category A1, A2 or A motorcycle licence. A car licence alone does not cover two-wheelers above 50 cc in Greece.
- Drivers with a licence issued outside the EU/EEA must also carry an International Driving Permit (IDP). See our licence guide.
- The vehicle may be driven only by the persons named on the rental agreement. The maximum number of riders is the one stated on the vehicle's registration.
- Helmets are mandatory for rider and passenger and are provided free of charge.
3. Booking, payment and cancellation
A booking made through the website or WhatsApp is a request that we confirm in writing with availability and price. We do not ask for prepayment; you pay at handover, in cash or by card. Prices are per day and per season as shown on the prices page. If your plans change, tell us as early as possible; last-minute cancellations or no-shows may be subject to the conditions of the rental agreement.
4. Delivery, pick-up and return
- We deliver free of charge to Karavostasi port, your hotel or our shop in Chora, daily 08:00–22:00.
- At handover we inspect the vehicle together and record its condition and fuel level.
- The vehicle is returned at the agreed time and place, free of sand and with the same fuel level, unless agreed otherwise.
- A late return without prior arrangement is charged as an extra day.
5. Use of the vehicle
Riding off paved roads and marked dirt tracks is forbidden. Scooters stay on asphalt; ATVs may use asphalt and the island's dirt tracks. Breaking this rule voids the insurance cover.
Also forbidden: riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs, towing, racing, overloading, taking the vehicle off Folegandros and sub-renting. The renter must follow the Greek Highway Code and lock the vehicle whenever it is left unattended.
6. Insurance and liability
All vehicles carry the compulsory third-party liability insurance. Damage to the rented vehicle itself, theft, and damage caused by misuse, off-road riding, an unauthorised or unlicensed driver, or riding under the influence are not covered and are the renter's responsibility. Any deposit or damage excess, where applicable, is stated on the rental agreement.
7. Breakdowns and accidents
In case of a breakdown call us immediately on +30 694 783 1208: we provide 24/7 roadside assistance across the island and an immediate replacement vehicle whenever possible. In case of an accident notify the police (100) and us, do not move the vehicle if anyone is injured, and do not admit liability to third parties. Damage not reported at return is deemed the renter's responsibility.
8. Traffic fines
Fines and tickets issued during the rental period are the renter's responsibility, even when they are notified after the vehicle has been returned.
9. Personal data and governing law
Your details are used only for the rental, as described in our privacy policy. These terms are governed by Greek law and the courts of Greece have jurisdiction. If anything is unclear, contact us before you book.
