Livadi

Livadi is the beach of the campsite and of families: a wide bay of sand and pebbles one kilometre south of the port, with a row of tamarisks that give shade all day, a taverna and showers, and the island's only campsite right behind it. The footpath to Katergo also starts from its far end, so many people use it as a base.

How to get there

By scooter or ATV from Chora ride down to Karavostasi, 3 km of asphalt, and continue another kilometre south on the paved road to Livadi, with parking behind the beach. About 4 km and fifteen minutes in total.

On foot from the port it is about fifteen minutes along the same road, easy and almost flat. In summer the port bus usually serves Livadi as well; ask for the timetable.

What to expect

Sand and pebbles, shallow water that deepens slowly and real shade from the tamarisks, which is why families prefer it. There is a taverna, showers, parking and rooms, but no sunbeds: here you spread your towel under the trees. The campsite behind the beach gives Livadi a relaxed, youthful atmosphere in summer.

The bay faces east like Karavostasi, so a strong meltemi ruffles it a little and on other days it is calm. It is not a nudist beach, and the sandy seabed has little to offer a mask.

Tips

Livadi works all day thanks to the shade, so it is the beach for the hours when the others burn. If you plan to walk to Katergo, start from here early in the morning with water and a hat, allow about half an hour on the path, and come back for a shower and lunch under the tamarisks.
